Based off memorial by Miodrag Zivkovic to the battle of Sutjeska in Yugoslavia, this is a brutalist style ring and based off the broken up concrete look of the original statue. The lines cut into the ring spreading out from a center point create emphasis on the top of the ring, because although the entire ring has lines sawed into it the top has the deepest and most pronounced texture. Working with wax to create the look I was going for took a few tries experimenting with wire wax before deciding to use a block of blue wax. Finally, I decided to use sterling silver to replicate the color of the original concrete monument, as well as make it easy for me to wear around without oxidation. Casting was a fun experience and I hope to do more in the future.
