​Burden of the Breaking point is a jewelry piece based on my body’s response to overexertion, the rocks and metal with a fabric texture are both significant to my experience with fatigue. Starting with the mask, the metal has been shaped to create the illusion of satin, satin is a very soft and flowy fabric, this creates a look into what people misunderstand as just being sleepy or simply tired. All these are soft feelings while fatigue is not, it is an inability to move, even the thought of moving can make the rigid exhaustion stay longer. Heavy stones have been placed tearing through the metal, completing not only the visual image of not being able to move, but also a simulation. Both hands need to be used to remove this heavy mask from my face so I can move freely, this is only a luxury afforded in my art, not in real life where I must simply wait it out.
